Please Help Stop This Disrespectful Act!

On 12th December, 2015, Fine Art Magazine, a magazine that publishes information regarding art news in Thailand, launched Buddhist art exhibition to celebrate its 12th anniversary. They placed a big red Buddha head to show in such event. This Buddha head is the work of a national artist in visual art discipline. This really shocks and saddens the feeling of Buddhists. Besides, some of the visitors wore the Buddha head in their own heads and took a photograph as if the Buddha head was just a decorating mask. Not only they disrespectfully painted the Buddha head in red color, but they also let those visitors treated Buddhist symbols inappropriately and published those pictures online. Moreover, when Buddhists sent comments to the magazine's Facebook and requested them to stop their action, they showed no responsibilities for what they had done and continued to further publish those pictures via YouTube.

What is happened to the community? Don't we feel anything towards this? In the previous disrespectful cases, we may understand that the main reason was from the unawareness and misunderstanding of people from different religions. However, this should not happen from Thai people and from the magazines that have been published for over a decade.

Come and join our force to protect Buddhism. Please do not let these improper actions toward Buddhist symbols happen again. Should you see any disrespectful acts, please do not ignore in order to help stop a decline in Buddhism.

เมื่อวันที่ 12 ธันวาคมที่ผ่านมา Fineart Magazine Thailand หนังสือนิตยสารที่เผยแพร่ข้อมูลข่าวสารเกี่ยวกับแวดวงศิลปะของประเทศไทย ได้จัดงานฉลองครบรอบ 12 ปีของนิตยสาร โดยจัดงานแสดงศิลปะเกี่ยวกับพุทธศิลป์ ภายในงานได้จัดแสดงพระเศียรขนาดใหญ่ทาสีแดงสด สร้างความสลดและสะเทือนใจแก่ชาวพุทธที่ได้พบเห็นเป็นอย่างมาก ยิ่งไปกว่านั้นคนที่มาในงานบางส่วนยังขาดการพิจารณา ได้เอาศีรษะของตนไปสวมทับกับพระเศียรแล้วถ่ายรูปเสมือนเป็นเพียงหน้ากากธรรมดา หาใช่พระสัญลักษณ์ของพระบรมศาสดา ผลงานแสดงศิลปะดังกล่าวนั้นเป็นผลงานของศิลปินแห่งชาติ สาขาทัศนศิลป์ การทาพระเศียรเป็นสีแดงสดนั้นเป็นการกระทำที่ไม่เหมาะสมขาดซึ่งความเคารพ นอกจากนี้ทางนิตยสารยังปล่อยให้คนที่มาร่วมงานกระทำสิ่งที่หมิ่นพระเกียรติต่อพระสัญลักษณ์ และยังเผยแพร่ภาพดังกล่าวออกมา เมื่อเหล่าชาวพุทธได้ไปแสดงความเห็นถึงการกระทำที่ไม่เหมาะสมนี้ในเฟสบุ๊ค นอกจากจะไม่แสดงความรับผิดชอบใดๆแล้ว ทางนิตยสารยังไม่สนใจ ได้นำภาพการจัดงานแสดงดังกล่าวเผยแพร่ในYouTube เพิ่มขึ้นอีกด้วย

เกิดอะไรขึ้นกับสังคมไทย เราไม่รู้สึกอะไรกันเลยหรือ ก่อนหน้าที่เคยมีเหตุการณ์คล้ายๆกันนี้เกิดขึ้น ก็ยังพอเข้าใจได้ว่า สาเหตุเกิดจากความไม่รู้ของคนต่างนิกายต่างศาสนา แต่สิ่งนี้ไม่น่าเกิดกับคนไทย กับสื่อสิ่งพิมพ์ที่มีมากว่าสิบปีเช่นนี้

มาเถิดพวกเราชาวพุทธ มาช่วยกันปกป้องพระศาสนาของเรา การกระทำอันใดที่เป็นการกระทำที่ไม่เหมาะสมต่อพระรูปและพระนาม ขอเราอย่าได้ปล่อยปละละเลย ปล่อยให้การกระทำอันไม่เหมาะสมเช่นนี้เกิดขึ้นอีก ขอพวกเราพุทธแท้จงช่วยกัน เมื่อพบเห็นการลบหลู่พระพุทธเจ้า จงอย่านิ่งดูดาย เพื่อไม่ให้ศาสนาพุทธของเราเสื่อมถอยลงไปอย่างรวดเร็วก่อนกาลอันสมควร
